CDC Distributors, Inc. was founded by C.W. ‘Chuck’ Flaum – a WWII Veteran with penchant for entrepreneurship and a passion for customer service. At age 27, Flaum managed operations for several lumber yards and developed skills that would help him lead CDC in later years. 1976 was the year Flaum started CDC Distributors, Inc. with his son Dave, who entered the industry by selling everything he owned, convincing a relative to invest & guarantee the bank loans. Sons Chris & Chuck Jr. joined shortly thereafter.
Dedication, hard work and a passion for customer service propelled CDC Distributors to one of the largest floor covering distributors in the state of Ohio by 1980. This type of growth was unprecedented during those years of rising costs, inflation and high interest rates.
Chuck credited CDC’s dedication to employees, customers and suppliers as the key reasons for the impressive growth and success of the organization – values that permeate the CDC team decades later and resonate in the actions of everyone currently part of the organization.
In the 1990’s and 2000’s, majority ownership transitioned through both Dave Flaum and Alan Futscher until 2024 when Tony Roberto and his 2 sons purchased the majority ownership of CDC. Tony had started with CDC Distributors in 1982 with the sales group before quickly becoming sales manager in 1988. Tony’s two sons, Joe (now the President of Sales) and AJ (now the President of Operations), joined him in 2007 and 2010.
The Roberto’s continue to operate the business with the same philosophy and core values as Tony’s mentor, and original founder, Chuck Flaum Sr., driven by the same passion and determination for success, as well as, continuing the tradition of being a family-owned business!
