The Cool Thing About Ceramic Tile
Tuesday, May 17, 2016

Summer is just around the corner, and as the weather heats up people everywhere are looking for ways to stay cool. An age-old trick for keeping a room a few degrees cooler than temperatures outside is to lay ceramic tile. But there are plenty of other reasons ceramic tile is cool—and the perfect choice for your customers’ homes or offices.

Ceramic tile has been used for thousands of years and, as many archeologists can attest, has incredible staying power. A strong, durable substance, your customers can expect their ceramic tile to still look amazing decades after it is installed. Properly installed, ceramic tile can last a lifetime. When there’s no need to replace flooring, resources are spared.

Tile doesn’t emit Volatile Air Compounds (VOCs), which are harmful to humans and the environment.
Most ceramic tile manufacturers produce very little waste material. They send only negligible amounts of scrap to landfills and very little wastewater to treatment facilities.

Ceramic tile is inhospitable to dust mites, mold, germs, and bacteria.
With only warm water and a drop or two of soap, ceramic tile floors look like new again. Cleaning up spills, dirt, and messes is simple and non-toxic.

Ceramic tile can help you achieve LEED® status when building green.

Use ceramic tile in your green building projects for the following LEED points:
  • Recycled Materials Content (MR Credits 4.1 and 4.2)
  • Regional Materials (MR Credit 5.1 and 5.2)
  • Low-Emitting Materials (EQ Credit 4.3)
  • Heat Island Effect (SS Credit 7.1)
Color in ceramic tiles stays true and won’t fade. Ceramic tile is non-combustible and won’t emit toxic fumes when exposed to fire.
All of these are great reasons for choosing ceramic tile for areas of a home or office, but our favorite is simply its beauty. Ceramic tile adds an element of style to any interior or exterior space that makes it timeless.
